It is a delusory mental illness of the American democrat to act as though the media has an obligation to grant the public unbiased and impartial reporting. The truth of the matter is that in a capitalist country we have winners and losers, and one of our cultural values is that any entity that relies on the Almighty Dollar owes the consumer a product or service that is pleasing regardless of whether or not “being pleased” is a good criterion for measuring the value of the service provided.
Compartmentalization in psychology is a simple enough concept. A person who cannot tolerate cognitive dissonance may partition those thoughts off as a defense mechanism. This very often happens when religious convictions collide with science, or when suppressing a childhood trauma to maintain family relationships. Frequently it’s both.
Apex Predators
Multi-level marketing companies. Also known as pyramid schemes. They don't like being referred to as the latter, though in fact they are a barely-legal version thereof. The legality comes from the fact that only product sales earn people money -- there are no costs to join, nor are there bonuses for recruiting people per se, though you do take a cut of their profits. Some of these companies are less predatory than others, and while each must be examined individually, the basic math is inescapable. Those at the top of the pyramid make scads of cash, while the plebs at the bottom toil without realistic hope.
